School Board Decatur Proud Recognition: February 14, 2023

At the MSD Decatur Township School Board Meeting on February 14, 2023, the Decatur Middle School 7th Grade Boys Basketball Team was recognized for their outstanding season. Dr. Stephanie Hofer, Assistant Superintendent, congratulated the team and coaches on their 18-3 season and their tremendous individual and team growth. They capped the season off strong with a dominating performance, winning the Junior Mid-State Conference Championship!

Dr. Hofer also recognized the 8th Grade Boys Basketball Team from Decatur Middle School for finishing their season at 13-8, and showing phenomenal improvement and growth. We are Decatur Proud to congratulate the team and coaches on winning the Junior Mid-State Conference Championship!

Dr. Hofer and the School Board also commended the Decatur Central Athletic Program for being named a 2022 recipient of the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association Program Award at the Exemplary Level. This award is presented in an effort to recognize and commend excellence in the implementation and administration of outstanding high school athletic programs in order to encourage measurement, planning, and goal setting aimed at continuous improvement. To qualify for this recognition, Mr. Dixson, DCHS Athletic Director, successfully completed the required training and presented evidence of existing policies, practices and procedures that met the suggested criteria within ten Quality Program Assessment categories. Mr. Dixson recognized the team effort with Assistant Athletic Director, Derrek Staton and Decatur Middle School Athletic Director, Missy Harvey, along with the coaches in both programs. Congratulations to our DCHS Athletic Program for receiving this national honor and the first from Indiana!

New head coaches at Decatur Central High School, were also approved by the School Board.

Mr. Myles Koenig was introduced as Head Girls Soccer Coach.

Also, Ms. Tandace Joseph (below) was introduced as the Head Girls Volleyball Coach at DCHS.
