New Tech freshmen at DCHS are giving back to their fellow seniors by designing and creating this year’s senior shirts. Through this meaningful project, freshmen have had the opportunity to honor the Class of 2026 while building important academic skills in the classroom.
As part of the process, students applied their understanding of math—specifically linear equations—to calculate production costs, determine pricing, and analyze profit margins. By connecting real-world application to classroom learning, students were able to see firsthand how mathematical concepts extend beyond textbooks and into authentic experiences.

This project not only strengthened their understanding of algebraic concepts but also encouraged collaboration, creativity, and school pride. Freshmen worked together to design graphics, gather feedback from seniors, and problem-solve throughout the production process.
Most importantly, the experience reinforced the value of giving back to the school community. By supporting their senior classmates in a tangible way, freshmen learned that leadership and service can begin at any grade level. What began as a math lesson quickly grew into a memorable, hands-on learning opportunity that has truly been a fun and rewarding experience for everyone involved.
