DCHS JAG Makes History!

DCHS JAG Makes History!

Eight senior JAG (Jobs for America's Graduates) students from DCHS are eligible to participate in the National Student Leadership Academy (NSLA) held annually in Washington DC. Students have had to be involved in many JAG opportunities to be eligible such as plan and implement community service projects, attend industry and college field trips, participate in leadership activities, and work experiences like a job shadow or a WEX (JAG internship). Students have also shown leadership by being an active member or officer in our Career Association (student council for JAG).

JAG is a program for students who have possible barriers to graduation or success after high school. The most important thing is that students want, need, and can benefit from JAG. These eight students eligible for NSLA are Sabrina Moriera, Shannon Spears, Brianna Monday, Ashley Lawson, Tendai Mutungambera, Kara Moore, Taylor Brearley, Chloe Thaman, and Devyn Partain.

JAG students and Specialists have been doing fundraisers around the school and community. So far they have raised enough funds for one student to attend the conference.  The trip is not covered by any grant funding so it has to be covered by students and JAG Specialist through either upfront payment or fundraising.

A Go Fund Me campaign has been started to help support their efforts. If you are able please consider donating.  All are invited to check out their page and read updates! It is truly amazing to have 8 eligible students! It is the most they have had in JAG DCHS history!
