Principal's Corner

Dear Stephen Decatur Families and Friends,

Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year at Stephen Decatur Elementary School!

I’m April Tramil, and it is with great pride and continued enthusiasm that I welcome you to another exciting year of learning and growth. As I begin my second year as principal, I remain deeply honored to serve this incredible community and am eager to build upon the strong foundation we created together last year.

Stephen Decatur is more than a school, it’s a community where every student is known, valued, and supported. Our commitment to academic excellence, social-emotional growth, and inclusive practices remains unwavering. This year, we will continue to nurture a safe and welcoming environment where all students can thrive and reach their full potential.

We know that student success is most powerful when there is a strong partnership between school and home. Your continued support  whether through volunteering, attending events, or engaging in conversations with our staff  is essential in helping our students feel connected and confident in their learning journey.

This year, we are excited to deepen our focus on instruction, student engagement, creativity, and critical thinking. Our dedicated team of educators are ready to challenge and inspire students while also honoring the unique strengths and stories each child brings to our school.

As we move forward together, I invite you to stay connected, share your ideas, and celebrate the many successes we will achieve as a school community. I am so grateful to be on this journey with you and look forward to all we will accomplish in the year ahead.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out. Together, let’s make 2025/26 a year filled with growth, joy, and endless possibilities for our students.

With All Students in Mind,

April Tramil
