The West Newton Elementary 3rd Grade, along with many 3rd graders across the district and state, are
logging reading minutes through a program called "Read to the Final Four" to build excitement for reading and the NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four, which will be held in Indianapolis in March of this year. West Newton Elementary was selected for a special "Fan Jam" session today, AND the organization recognized Reading Teacher Mrs. Jessi Green as a Literacy Champion for the meaningful difference her instruction has made in students’ journeys to reading success. Mrs. Green was awarded a check for $1000! West Newton 3rd grade students participated in special activities including reading chants, basketball, writing cards to welcome the athletes, and a collegiate athlete Q & A session with members of the UIndy Lacrosse Team. What a fun and exciting celebration of reading and basketball, and congratulations, Mrs. Green!
