During the month of May, we hosted two community meetings to provide an overview of district finances and the proposal for a Referendum Renewal. As promised, a video of the presentation content is provided below, along with an attached summary of key points. We encourage you to provide feedback using the link below or the QR code in the video. In July, the School Board of Education will meet for a special session to act on the referendum recommendation. If passed, the referendum question will appear on the November 3, 2026, General Election Ballot.
As superintendent of MSD of Decatur Township, I believe it is important that our community has clear, accurate information about this potential referendum renewal. This referendum is not an additional tax. Instead, it would replace the current voter-approved referendum, which expires at the end of 2027, with a proposed lower maximum tax rate. If approved by voters, referendum funds would continue to help support essential district operations, including student transportation, utilities, building maintenance, school safety, and student well-being services.
MSD of Decatur Township remains committed to responsible fiscal stewardship and transparency. Our district continues to manage taxpayer resources conservatively while facing rising costs and significant funding challenges.
