Exciting News from FFA

MSD Decatur Seal

The Decatur Central FFA is excited to announce that Ms. Strahla and Ms. Carpenter are recipients of the National FFA Lilly Endowment Classroom Enhancement Grant for $10,000! These funds will support the expenses of building a greenhouse for the agriculture program.

Once funds are received, a complete greenhouse kit will be ordered and constructed outside of the Decatur Central Career Center, with help from the FFA students and construction program.

Ms. Strahla explained, “In the greenhouse, we plan to start seeds and propagate a variety of plants. FFA now includes a Supervised Agriculture Experience (SAE), so students will work with business aspects through sale of the plants.”

Ms. Carpenter also shared that they were awarded a Decatur Township Educational Foundation Grant as well that will fund a mobile goat pen.

Congratulations to the Ms. Strahla, Ms. Carpenter, and the FFA on this exciting news!
