Principal's Corner

Dear Gold Academy Families, 

I’m Janica Humphries, and I am very excited and humbled to serve as the principal at Gold Academy Elementary. I am dedicated to the district’s students, teachers, staff and parents. I truly believe that every student can learn and be successful and as educators, we have an amazing opportunity to make an impact on the lives of students everyday. 

I have had the honor of serving as an educator for 23 years. In my 23 years, I have served as an elementary special education teacher, lead teacher, Assistant Principal and now as Principal at Gold Academy. 

We are a family at Gold Academy Elementary and our school vision is aligned with the district's mission: 

Mission: The MSD of Decatur Township is Student Invested,Community Connected.  We prioritize Student Learning, Safety and Customer Service, fostering a support system for our families.stand by our Our school vision: The Gold Academy is committed to personal and academic growth  for all students through individualized instruction with a focus on building academic and social-emotional skills. 

We believe that it is important for our students to be connected to school through positive relationships and a strong sense of community. It is our ultimate goal to provide our students, their families and the community positive learning experiences in a nurturing environment.  

We are all very excited about the 2023-24 school year, where our classrooms once again will be full with activities and ideas that challenge and inspire our students. I look forward to meeting you in person and building strong and positive partnerships.
