Goodwin Center site – The Goodwin Center offers access to the Benefit Bank, a web-based service that simplifies and centralizes the process of applying for many state and federal benefits for low- and moderate-income individuals and families working to overcome poverty and to build long-term financial stability. We can help get you through the confusing, intimidating and time-consuming application processes to help you secure funds and services to which you’re entitled. Volunteers are available to assist with:

  • Tax Filing
  • Voter Registration
  • Free Application for Student Financial Aid (FAFSA)
  • Additional Benefits in Specific States
    • Food Assistance
    • Medical Assistance
    • Child Care Subsidy
    • Home Heating & Cooling

What is VITA? – Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) offers free tax help to people who earn less than $49,000. VITA helps working families take advantage of all of the tax credits they are eligible for including the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), Child Tax Credit (CTC) and education credits. Volunteers from the community help prepare basic, current-year tax returns for eligible taxpayers free of charge.
