We’re going to do something a little different this year for PTSA. We are going to have speakers each month to talk about a topic of interest to you. First up, is an introduction to Skyward and Canvas. These are the online tools your student uses to do assignments and the place where grades are posted. You may follow along with your student’s progress, see when assignments are turned in (or not turned in), and even set-up “notifications” by email. We’re excited to bring this info to you and future topics such as Teenage Drug Use, Vocational Trades in Lieu of College, and Security on Campus. Please join us Monday, August 12th at 7:00pm to learn to follow your student using Skyward and Canvas!

We meet monthly throughout the school year and our focus is to offer several fundraising events that will create funds for our annual scholarships as well as our general fund. Our goal is to fund 10 $500 scholarships to students who are in the upper 2/3 of their class and who participate in PTSA activities. Our major scholarship fundraiser is our annual craft fair held the first Saturday in November. Some of the other fundraising events we have done in the past have been selling necklace beads and lemon shakeups at the Homecoming game.

The past few years we have collaborated with the National Honor Society (NHS) in selling snowflakes and suckers during the lunch periods of Snowcoming Week and at the Snowcoming basketball games.  Proceeds are given to a charity of the NHS’s choosing.  We also provide a nice luncheon for the staff at the end of the year. Whenever possible we use leftover funds to help with different school activities.

It is our goal to hold the PTSA meetings to no more than an hour. They are held in the Media Center Project Room at the high school at 7:00 pm the second month evening each month. The meeting also includes a report from the principal on upcoming activities at the school. Please plan to attend.

Seniors planning to apply for PTSA scholarships must be an active PTSA member in order to be eligible for consideration. The scholarship application uses a point system. Many of these points are based on PTSA participation throughout their high school time. These activities may include the activities listed on this page as well as attending meetings.

Committee List – Volunteers are needed for each committee. Please contact Greg West for more information or to sign up.
