The Decatur Township School for Excellence is the alternative program option in Decatur Central High School. DTSE is state accredited and provides students the opportunity to receive their Core 40 and Academic Honors diplomas. Dual credit and vocational opportunities also exist. DTSE houses two programs providing different pathways to graduation, Blended Learing Pathway (BLP) & Student Enrichment and Transition Pathway (STEP).

Learning Pathways

Blended Learning Pathway (BLP) provides students with blended and virtual learning. Our digital curriculum provides an active learning experience that engages all students in rigorous coursework to prepare them for college and work. The standards-based digital curriculum in math, science, English, social studies, and electives is widely used for original credit, credit recovery, remediation, intervention, acceleration, and exam preparation.

Student Transition and Enrichment Pathway (STEP) The role of STEP is to ensure that all students are “on-track” for graduation, prepared for transitions in school and life, and developing positive mindsets for future success. Students complete the STEP program with three mindsets: Belief, Confidence, and Value

1. The Belief that hard work can and will lead to improvement
2. Confidence that you, and people like you, belong in school and that it is a place where you can thrive.
3. The belief that what you are doing is Valuable and relevant to your goals

Mission Statement

The role of DTSE is to assist students in developing responsibility towards self and others, academic achievement, and personal growth. We strive to see that each individual makes significant progress towards their potential.
