DC Band and Color Guard at Bands of America Competition

DC Band and Color Guard at Bands of America Competition

Great performance from our students!

The Decatur Central Band and Color Guard attended the Bands of America (BoA) Central Indiana Regional on Oct. 5th held at Ball State University.

Our students were one of 26 bands from five different states competing. States in this competition include Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan and Missouri.  This contest has two separate contests.... a preliminary followed by finals. BOA has 4 levels - 1A - 2A - 3A - and 4A - we Decatur Central Band is classified as a 3A band - school size of 10-12th grade. Decatur Central won the 3A class championship as well as Best Music, Best Visual and Best General Effect in 3A. We were then chosen 1 of 10 bands to advance to finals later that same eventing. Bands of America allows all 26 bands to compete against each other for a spot in Finals. Decatur Central placed 5th of the 10 in finals and thus, 5th of the 26 bands.

We are #DecaturProud of our band students and their leadership. The time and effort (not to mention talent) that goes into their productions is extraordinary. The program at Decatur Central is top notch, thanks to the efforts of Mr. Tim Cox and his team. Our band and color guard students are talented, dedicated, and hard working kids. Check out the pictures provided by Mr. Cox. Congratulations to these outstanding performers!
