Many DC Band Students Head to State Competition

Our Decatur Central band students worked hard over the weekend of February 1 to once again show how amazing our musicians can be!  Many of our students performed well enough to advance to the state competition, which will be held at North Central in three weeks time.  For the first time in DCHS history, 17 individual students advanced to the state competion.  Additionally, four ensembles will be heading to state finals as well.  The medal count for DC band is quite impressive.  In total, there were 68 gold medals, 18 silver medals, and 2 bronze medals.  Mr. Tim Cox, DC Band Director, does an amazing job instructing and guiding our musicians to be the best they can be and their track record proves that the DC music department is just one of many reasons why it is GREAT TO BE A HAWK!
